Review :

This is another short from Melini. I have reviewed several of his shorts and with each one he gets better and better. Lion is a film short about a physically and mentally abused child, and every decent human being will feel emotional watching this. You don’t see the abuse, you hear it and see the after affects which is just as horrific. Melini brings a uniqueness to this theme and it works,

The cast have taken their characters on brilliantly and convincingly. The dad who sits around drinking beer, watching tv and barking orders at his wife. The wife does as she is told and the boy is in his bedroom laying on his bed cuddling a toy lion with lion posters on his walls. It is when his dad tries to turn off a program on the tv about lions that retribution is about to begin.

Everything about it, the effects, the cinematography, look big budget feature style but this down to the fantastic Melini with his writing and directional skills and getting together an amazing team behind him.

This isn’t just a film short, it’s a work of art and has already won a huge amount of awards worldwide. Please watch and support this film when you can.
