4/20 Massacre – Review

Premiering on VOD and DVD 4/3 from Film Chest, the first-ever “stoner slasher” movie pits today’s hottest young stars against cinema’s next iconic movie monster in a frightening and funny comedy-thriller released just in time for the “The Official Holiday” for weed enthusiasts.

From writer/director Dylan Reynolds comes the story of five women who go camping in the woods to celebrate a friend’s birthday over the 4/20 weekend. But when they cross the turf of an illegal marijuana growing operation they must struggle to survive the living nightmare.

Jamie Bernadette (I Spit on Your Grave: Déjà Vu, Killing Joan), Vanessa Rose Parker (Samurai Cop 2), Justine Wachsberger (Divergent), Stacey Danger (‘’Jean-Claude Van Johnson’’), Marissa Pistone (Raze), Jim Storm (Dark Shadows), Mark Schroeder (‘’Pretty Little Liars’’) Jim Round, Drew Talbert and James Gregory star in a Dylan Reynolds film.

I had the screener sent over to me at 3am (England time) and with a night of insomnia ahead i thought what the hell, i will watch it now. Reading the Synopsis and seeing it was a ‘stoner slasher’, visions of shrooms came into thought.

Although ‘Five girls go into the woods camping ‘ has been done many times before, i have to give it to Reynolds as the weed plot was original. The movie monster we see is called The Shape and it did confuse me at first because you sit thinking what the hell? Is this just someone protecting his pot, or is there something more to it?

If you like slashers with plenty of blood and gore that you can actually see and aren’t special effects added in after, then you will love this movie. The music score is brilliant and goes with the ambience of the movie so that is an added bonus.

The characters have been cast well and as always Jamie Bernadette is a natural. If you are a big fan of hers then you will love seeing her kick some ass in this one.

What i did love was the surprise twist towards the end of the movie, it suddenly explained everything and seemed to make you question who really was the psychotic one among them really.

Overall i know you are all going to love it so :

Inhale. Exhale. Scream. 4/20 Massacre premieres 4/3 this April.
